Parkinson’s Disease

Parkinson’s Disease

Parkinson’s is a brain disease, in which the activities of various body parts are adversely affected. Significantly, neuron cells in the brain form a chemical substance called dopamine. When dopamine levels begin to fall, the brain is unable to control various organs of the body.

Often this disease occurs in old age people, but nowadays this merge is also seen in the youth. According to statistics, around 70 million to 10 million people are currently affected by Parkinson’s disease. These data suggest that this number will increase even more, especially in the continent of Asia. The reason for this is to increase the number of elderly and increase in age.

Parkinson’s disease is often associated with depression or brain failure, but in this context, it is very important to understand that patients suffering from this disease are not mentally challenged. They should not be seen as separate from society. At the initial stage, doctors resort to medications to manage the symptoms, but in the end, Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) therapy has proved to be very effective if the medicines are not effective and their side effects are revealed.

Symptoms of Parkinson diseases

  • Feeling lethargic in physical activity
  • Feeling difficulty in balancing the body

  • Symptoms of its particular identity are tremor, tightness, slowness at work, change in pace, difficulty in physical balance (balance). This disease is also often called a motor disorder or movement disorder (a disorder in movement).

Diagnosis:

Identifying Parkinson’s is not easy. There are no laboratory tests (blood tests or brain scans). Usually, doctors tell about this disease only after seeing its symptoms and the condition of the patient. Neuro physicians come to the conclusion based on their prior experiences and talk to the patient’s family to determine whether the person is suffering from Parkinson’s.

Cause of Parkinson

There is a general belief that Parkinson’s merger is caused by a lack of brain chemical called dopamine produced by nerve cells (nerve cells) in the brain. As the disease progresses, the amount of dopamine produced in the brain decreases. Due to this, the person becomes unable to control his physical activities normally. The cause of Parkinson’s disease can also be genetic. Similarly, due to environmental reasons, increasing age and unhealthy lifestyles can also call this disease. The disease is more common among men than women.

Parkinson’s disease is caused by a disorder in some parts of the brain.

Many symptoms of Parkinson’s are not related to walking or movement. Examples- Mood disorders, problem concentrating, inability to plan, memory problem, vision confusion, difficulty in urination, loss of smelling ability, sleep problem, etc.

Parkinson’s disease is a progressive disorder. Most cases of this occur in older people, but it can also happen at a young age. How to Treat Slipped Disc through Ayurveda?

slip-disc

What is a Slipped Disc?

Our spinal column is made up of a series of vertebrae (bones) that are stacked onto each other. These vertebrae are covered by spinal discs that protect the bones from receiving shocks by daily activities like lifting, twisting, or walking.

The disc comprises a soft, gelatinous inner portion and a tough outer ring. When an injury occurs in the inner portion of the ring it causes the rupturing of the tissues that separate the vertebral bones, then the disc protrudes through the outer ring. This condition is referred to as herniated, or prolapsed disc. It can occur in any part of the spine and can irritate a nearby nerve. Depending upon the location, this can result in pain, numbness, or weakness in an arm or leg. This is common in men than in women.

What causes a Slipped Disc?

The main cause of the slipped disc is not clear why some people develop a slipped disc and not others, even when they do the same job or lift the same sort of objects. This may be due to the weakness in the outer part of the affected disc. A slipped disc may also cause due to gradual, aging-related wear and tear called disc degeneration. As the age increases, the disc becomes less flexible and more prone to tearing or rupturing with even a minor strain.

Other causes that result in a slipped disc are:

  1. A job involving lots of lifting and sitting (especially driving).
  2. Weight-bearing sports (weight lifting, etc).
  3. Excessive smoking
  4. Being overweight or obesity
  5. Increasing age (a disc becomes weak as we become older)

Slipped disc can happen in any part of the spine, from neck to the lower back. But the most common area is lower back for slipped discs. The spinal column is a network of various nerves and blood vessels. During a slipped disc, the bones put extra pressure on the nerves and muscles around it.

What are the symptoms of a Slipped Disc?

Symptoms of a slipped disc include:

  1. Pain and numbness mostly on one side of the body
  2. Pain that radiated towards the arms or legs
  3. Pain that gets worsen at night or with certain movements
  4. Pain that gets worsen after prolonged standing or sitting
  5. Pain becomes more severe when walking short distances
  6. Unexplained weakness in the muscles
  7. Tingling, burning or aching sensation in the affected areas

Pain can vary from person to person. Consult your doctor if your pain results in numbness or tingling or burning that affects your ability to control the muscles.
